The ROC investigates licensed and unlicensed contracting. For new construction, a complaint against a licensed contractor must be filed within two years of the close of escrow or actual occupancy, whichever came first. For remodels and repairs, the limit is two years from the date work was last performed. (source: Arizona Registrar of Contractors) (source: Arizona State Legislature)
Complaints can be filed online in the ROC portal. The ROC has separate forms for complaints against licensed contractors, unlicensed contractors and for non payment. (source: Arizona Registrar of Contractors)
ROC rules require a contractor to do all work in a professional and workmanlike manner and in line with applicable building codes and professional industry standards (A.A.C. R4-9-108). (source: Arizona Secretary of State)
If the ROC suspends or revokes the license after your complaint, see the Recovery Fund.
